      Vocab for todays lesson 1. Stereotype A generalized and often oversimplified belief or idea about a particular group of people. Stereotypes can be positive, negative, or neutral, but they usually lead to assumptions that don’t account for individual differences. 2. Prejudice A preconceived opinion or feeling, usually negative, about a person or group based on their characteristics (such as race, gender, religion) before knowing them personally. It’s often rooted in stereotypes. 3. Discrimination Actions or behaviors that treat people unfairly or unjustly based on their group membership. Discrimination directly affects how individuals are treated in society, work, or services. 4. Assumption An idea or belief that something is true without proof or evidence. Assumptions can be based on stereotypes or biases and may lead to misunderstandings. 5. Judgement An opinion or conclusion formed after consideration or evaluation of someone or something. Sometimes judgments are fair, but they can also be influenced by biases or stereotypes. 6. Label A term or name used to categorize someone or something, often simplifying their identity. Labels can lead to stereotypes and may prevent seeing individuals as unique. 7. Unconscious Bias Attitudes or stereotypes that influence our judgments and actions without our conscious awareness. These biases are automatic and can affect decisions in subtle ways unless we become aware of them.
