"Economics is not just about numbers in tables, but about understanding human cooperation and the rules that create a prosperous society."
Banská Bystrica hosted the regional round of the prestigious Economics Olympiad. The modern premises of the auditorium at the Faculty of Economics, Matej Bel University (EF UMB), brought together the best young talents from the Banská Bystrica region, including four representatives from our school.
The regional round is a demanding test that challenges not only theoretical knowledge but, above all, the ability to think logically and find solutions to complex analytical questions. Our students stood their ground in the face of strong competition and demonstrated an excellent understanding of how the world of finance and the economy works.
While the students tackled their difficult assignments, the program for accompanying teachers was enriched by a lecture from the renowned INESS analyst, Róbert Chovanculiak. He introduced his latest book publication titled The Origin of Prosperity. For the teachers, it was an inspiring meeting full of new perspectives that can subsequently be integrated into our classroom teaching.
We are proud of the performance of our four students, who worthily represented our school at this academic institution. Their approach confirmed that analytical thinking is natural to them and that they truly enjoy economic topics.
Currently, we are eagerly awaiting the results and the list of qualifiers. We are keeping our fingers crossed for our students, hoping their journey in this competition does not end in Banská Bystrica but continues to the national final!
