V dňoch 11. - 12. septembra sa žiaci štvrtého ročníka vydali na vzdelávací výlet do Poľska.
Výlet sme začali skoro ráno v stredu cestou autobusom do Krakowa. Po príchode do Krakowa sme objavovali čaro kráľovskej katedrály na Wawelskom návrší a v areáli hradu Wawel sme si vychutnali výhľad na Vislu a okolité štvrte Krakowa. Po obedňajšej prestávke na hlavnom námestí sme navštívili Jagellonskú univerzitu, známu ako druhú najstaršiu univerzitu v strednej Európe. Prehliadku Krakowa sme zakončili v židovskej štvrti Kazimierz a následne sme sa presunuli do Osvienčimu.
Vo štvrtok sme navštívili miesto, ktoré sa stalo svedkom tých najohavnejších prejavov ľudského správania - najväčší nemecký vyhladzovací tábor Auschwitz-Birkenau - kde počas druhej svetovej vojny prišlo o život okolo šesť miliónov osôb židovského pôvodu. Prehliadku koncentračného tábora sme začali v dopoludňajších hodinách v hlavnej časti tábora, Auschwitz. Dozvedeli sme sa o živote väzňov v pásikavých úboroch, ktorí v tábore prišli o svoju identitu a navštívili sme miestnosti plné ich osobných vecí, ktoré sa našli po vojne. Popoludní sme sa presunuli do druhej časti tábora, Birkenau. Je to miesto, kde prebiehala selekcia a realizovalo sa “konečné riešenie židovskej otázky”.
Niet pochýb o tom, že naša návšteva koncentračného tábora bola plná silných emócií. Smiech vystriedalo ticho i slzy, no zároveň sme pocítili vďačnosť za život a slobodu, ktorú dnes berieme ako samozrejmosť.
V mene celého ročníka ďakujeme našim triednym učiteľkám, Erike Guzmovej a Zuzke Vojtekovej, pani učiteľkám Danke Dúbravskej a Lucy Dovala i ďalším vyučujúcim, ktorí sa podieľali na organizácii tohto výletu! Sme vďační za hodnotný čas, ktorý nám pobyt v Poľsku priniesol.

Visit to the historic city of Krakow & Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp
The fourth-year students went on an educational trip to Poland on the 11th - 12th of September.
We began the trip early on Wednesday morning, travelling by bus to Krakow. After arriving in Krakow, we explored the charm of the Royal Cathedral on Wawel Hill, and in the grounds of Wawel Castle, we enjoyed the view of the Vistula River and the surrounding districts of Krakow. After a lunch break in the main square, we visited Jagiellonian University, the second oldest university in Central Europe. We finished the tour of Krakow in the Jewish quarter, Kazimierz, and then headed to Auschwitz.
On Thursday, we visited a place that witnessed the most horrific acts of human behaviour - the largest German extermination camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, where about six millions Jews lost their lives during World War II. We began our tour through the concentration camp in the morning in the main part of the camp, Auschwitz. We got to know about the lives of the prisoners in striped clothing, who lost their identities in the camp, and we visited rooms full of their personal belongings that were found after the war. In the afternoon, we moved to the second part of the camp, Birkenau. This was the place where selections took place and the "final solution of the Jewish question" was implemented.
There is no doubt that our visit to the concentration camp was full of strong emotions. Laughter was replaced by silence and tears, but at the same time, we felt a deep sense of gratitude for life and freedom, which we so often take for granted today.
